Some of you may remember Sugar, Spice and Iowa Nice. It's still me, just a new name and something that suites me a little better.

A couple years ago I tried the blog thing. I was excited because I had a lot of great information to put out into the world, but I royally underestimated the amount of time I had to commit to it. Last year I allowed my blog to close and started an Instagram page called the Garden and Grub. It was an easier way for me to show all the yummy food I was making, all the plants I was growing, and all the fun places I was checking out. As I've gotten more consistent with the Instagram, I realized it really isn't the place to share things in depth. So here we are, back at a blog that will hopefully be a little easier this time around!
My goal is to post just pictures and stories in real-time on the Instagram, and full reviews and recipes here on the blog. I'd love for you to be a part of this journey.
Are you even qualified?
Here's the thing. I'm not a professional in any one thing. I like to continuously grow and learn from others, and I think that if you have knowledge that can help others, why not share that?
I have been cooking for as long as I can remember. My mom is a great cook, and I've always been encouraged to try new things in the kitchen. Last summer, I decided to enter the Iowa State Fair (shout out to my brother-in-law Paul R. for recommending I do my Bolognese) and to my surprise won a Blue Ribbon! My dad got his green thumb from his mom who got it from her mom and so on, so the passion and excitement I have around growing came from him. I've been growing things for years indoors, on balconies at apartments, and most recently in our new garden box that we built at our home. My husband and I love to travel. Experiencing new things together is something at the core of our relationship. I've been across the US and beyond, so why not share all the awesome things this world has to offer?
